Witness Arc for a MCAS Miramar Maker’s Creative Legacy

BY ARNIE GÄRWIS | OCTOBER 24, 2026

Twenty-two years of Daniel Comp's own recorded words, hand-scored on ten lines and plotted as one trail: the first Witness Arc, and how Witness Marks add up to it.

The Witness Arc v2 chart: ten lines scored from Daniel Comp's own words, 2004 to 2026

I took twenty-two years of my own recorded words and had them read as one path through time. The chart above is the result. I call it the Witness Arc. It's the first time I've seen my own trail drawn as a line, hard years included.

A cairn, not a trophy

A cairn is a small stack of stones left on a trail. It doesn't say "I conquered this mountain." It says "someone came this way, and here is where the path turned."

That's what this chart is. It doesn't grade me against anyone else. It asks a simpler question: in each stretch of my life, how strongly did certain themes show up when I talked? The record runs from a 2004 product demo to the messages I sent my silicon team this month.

How the trail was plotted

I want to be plain about the method, because a cairn that lies is worse than no cairn at all.

GB, my Silicon Director of Operations, used only my own words:

  • my speaking turns in the vault video transcripts, with Angelina's and guests' turns left out
  • about 107 dated voice logs, from July 2025 to October 2026
  • my own messages to my agents

Books, the charter and the manifesto were left out, because polished prose isn't the same as what a man says in the moment.

The record was cut into twenty half-year periods, with thin stretches merged. Each period was scored from 0 to 10 on ten lines: SI literacy, sentiment, maturity, emotional clarity, skills, frustration, hardship, agency, purpose and faith. That's 200 points in all.

The first version used word counting. It was a useful map of where to read, but it couldn't tell "not frustrated" from "frustrated." So the version you see was hand-scored by judgment against a written rubric, from about forty sampled sentences per period plus the video ledger. Every score cites its sources and carries a confidence level, and the old word-count score is kept beside it so anyone can see where the two disagree.

Here's where the method is weak:

  • Scoring from sampled sentences isn't the same as reading every line.
  • Some periods have thousands of words behind them and some very few. The thin ones are dashed.
  • The years with no recordings, 2006 to 2010 and 2015 to 2017, are shaded and left empty rather than guessed at.
  • The medium changed. 2018 to 2023 is mostly road interviews, and 2025 to 2026 is mostly solo voice logs. Some of the movement is the format, not the man.

I'd rather tell you that than have you find it.

Where the path turned

2004 and 2005, the trailhead. I sound like a salesman who loves technology. Sentiment scores an 8, skills a 6, hardship a 1 and emotional clarity a 3. I was demoing a self-expanding website for "less than a thousand dollars," and I said the goal was to "serve people using technology to expand that platform exponentially." It was honest, but I hadn't been broken open yet.

Late 2010, MENtrepreneurs. The trail turned. I was talking openly about "bankruptcy, divorce, having to move into a warehouse." Hardship rose to 6 and emotional clarity to 7. That was the season I started teaching scotomas and walking with an "emotional vocabulary list." I told men, "Become accountable for your own self talk." And I prayed out loud: "But Lord, from this point on, no more wasted time, no more wasted life."

The road years. In 2018 my purpose was listening to men across the country. In late 2020 it was COVID Airstream life, with health and repair setbacks, and hardship scored a 7. In 2021, on the road, hardship peaked at 8. By late 2023 I was calling SI "a superpower" and building a course "for a noble cause, as a legacy," and purpose reached 9.

2025. The hardest stretch since. I said "I have 18 cents" in a voice log. Rent was paid only to date, there was a motor rebuild and a cease-and-desist threat. Hardship scored a 7. In that same stretch I was building INITIUM, with a hundred cards, a game board and templates, and I said, "God's gonna provide in some crazy way." Skills and purpose both scored a 9.

Late 2026, where I stand now. The summit of this arc so far, though not the end of the climb. SI literacy reached 10, because I now run a team of agents behind approval gates. Purpose reached 10 as well. Watching Don, at 90, get "back in the game," I said, "everyone wins. And this is why I'm in it all." Agency scored a 9, from "Build it all. Distribute it all. Worse case we hit delete and unwind it all." Maturity scored a 9, from "I'm vulnerable - and wiser."

Frustration is still there at a 6. I lost days to a failed deal, and I apologized to my own team for being "tired and short tempered." The arc doesn't hide that, and neither will I. Old scars like UPS and Rite Aid show up now as lessons rather than wounds, which is why present hardship sits at a 5.

The helix, plotted

In the INITIUM work and the Personal Everest pieces, I've written for years that a man's life isn't a straight climb. It's a helical ascent. I keep coming back around to the same lessons, and each time I'm standing on higher ground. The monomyth says the same thing in story form: you leave, you're tested, you come back carrying something.

This chart is the first time I've seen that spiral drawn from my own data. The lesson I spoke in 2005, that success is "who you become," comes around again in 2010, again on the road, and again with silicon partners. Each pass sits a little higher on the purpose and clarity lines.

What strikes me most is that my hard seasons and my building seasons sit on the same chart. You can see how one fed the other.

From Witness Mark to Witness Arc

At Intelligent Netware we start with the Witness Mark. A Witness Mark proves one claim with dated evidence: this man built this thing, on this date, and here is the source. It's small and checkable on purpose.

One mark is a point. Put enough points in order and you have a line you can actually see. That line is the Witness Arc. It doesn't replace the marks. It's what they add up to once someone reads them together.

We built the first one on me before offering it to anyone else.

Most makers already have the raw material and don't think of it as data: dated videos, voice memos, build logs, shop posts, emails and project files. An asxer is a client's own asker site, run by Intelligent Netware with SI agents working under the owner's approval. For a Witness Arc, the agents:

  1. Gather the maker's dated pile into one vault, with dates and sources kept.
  2. Separate his own voice from everyone else's.
  3. Mark single claims with dated evidence. These are the Witness Marks.
  4. Score each period against a written rubric, citing sentences and noting confidence.
  5. Plot the arc, showing gaps as gaps.
  6. Return it to the maker for his corrections before anything is published.

The maker stays the author. Nothing goes public without his own approval, and he can mark up the chart before it's final, just as I'm marking up mine.

For the four men I serve

The maker. Your pile of work is already your trail. Every dated build, video or invoice is a stone you've stacked. You may have years of builds and no single place that shows the path.

The mentor. This is what witnessing looks like when it's done honestly: dated points, a source for each one, and the hard periods left in. It lets you show a younger man, with evidence, that hard seasons come before good ones.

The explorer. If you're in the middle of a long climb, an arc shows where you actually are. And notice the empty spans. A gap in the record isn't failure. It's simply ground nobody filmed.

The legacy builder. This is why I keep recording. I said years ago that this corpus is a legacy for my grandchildren. A plotted trail is something they can actually read, not just a hard drive.

How it starts

Every reading starts with the client-invitation gate, stated openly before any payment or production. A full Witness Arc reading is paid work, done with the maker's consent, using his own material. Private feelings and maturity scores need private sources and his permission. A public trail alone can only show the dated points.

This is my first plotted trail. It won't be my last cairn. If you're sitting on a pile of life work, it may already be a trail waiting to be read.
